    What is taizé?

    Taizé Worship at St. Andrew’s

Prayer – Music - Scripture Readings – Candlelight – Silence

Laying on of Hands - Communion from the Reserve Sacrament

The third Saturday of every month, at 6 pm

    All are welcome.

The Taizé Community is an ecumenical monastic order in Taizé, Saône-et-Loire, Burgundy, France. The order has a strong devotion to peace and justice through prayer and meditation.

Rather than following prayerbook liturgy, worship in a Taizé service is uncomplicated and strives for a calm atmosphere, where a person's inner spirituality may be freed.

The service alternates music with periods of silence or prayer. The music emphasizes simple, repetitive phrases; usually lines from Psalms or other pieces of scripture. These short verses, accompanied by several musicians, are similar to chants and are sometimes sung in other languages. Candlelight, and icons from the Eastern Orthodox tradition, help to create the desired meditative setting.

The experience is enriched by the active participation of all assembled, by focusing on the light of Jesus Christ that shines within each one of us, and by deepening our faith through the power of prayer.

Taizé at St. Andrew's includes Communion from the Reserve Sacrament and healing prayer with anointing of oils.

Please join us and experience a Taizé service for yourself.
